We all know that 2020 has been a very trying time and here at Redbrain we always hope to do the right thing. It’s been more important this year than ever to support local. When some of our staff based in Lichfield highlighted the Lichfield Foodbank as a great cause to support this Christmas we really wanted to help and donate.
The foodbank believes that no one in their community should have to face going hungry. They do incredible work by providing three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis.
"Every year since 2014 we have produced an extra food bag at Christmas. We aim to support those who will have very little extra festive cheer and, indeed, some for whom 25th December will be just another day. I well remember one client who was asked ‘how will you be at Christmas, would you like one of our bags?’ His answer was ‘thank you, it was going to be pretty miserable but it will be a whole lot better now’.
Last year we gave out 420 bags and we will be producing 500 this year, each with over twenty items in them. We collect as much as we can week in and week out but, with higher demand for routine food parcels this year than last, we will have to buy many more items. If we went out and bought all of that food today, we would be spending around £6000. Your donation will go a long, long way to funding these bags and bringing some Christmas cheer to those less fortunate than ourselves.” Tony Marks – Lichfield Foodbank Treasurer.
We are covering the cost of those extra Christmas food bags this year and we’re so grateful for all the hard work the Lichfield Foodbank do for their local community. How can you help your community?
