RedBrain’s Bike Challenge Donation to ‘Take This Thread’

Our recent challenge for 100 people to cycle over 100km each in a week for £10k to be donated to ClientEarth, was a raving success. Yet we couldn’t have imagined how this would provide us with the opportunity to highlight such worthy causes as part of our additional prizes.

Lynn Madeley found out about our challenge through HotChillee and is a lucky recipient of one of our lottery prizes, winning £500 to donate towards a chosen charity. On hearing about ‘Take This Thread’ who will receive this donation, we wanted to share what they do through Lynn’s own words…

“I run an ad agency called Havas and in my spare time I ride my bicycle. Vegan by choice, if not by design.

At Havas we believe in making a meaningful difference so a couple of years ago we set up the Havas Academy which focuses on helping young women become work ready. As we began to understand the plight of women in South Africa we realised the enormity of the GBV problem and so through the Academy began the movement Take This Thread which is about recognising the pattern of abuse and then helping women who have been abused, break that pattern.

Of course, like so many worthwhile causes, Take This Thread needs to raise funds to support abused women, as well as promote dialogue that will bring the issue to the forefront and help drive GBV from our culture.

So, yes it’s something I am passionate about and if I can raise funds and ride my bike at the same time, then why not! And that is why I joined the RedBrain Bike Challenge.

I also have a son who rides who is based in the UK doing a degree in Sports Science, a long suffering partner who puts up with all the madness and three rescue huskies.”

The challenges don’t end there for Lynn, on 26th September she will be doing a VEverest attempt - also raising money for Take This Thread. We wish you the best of luck and thank you for being part of our fun event.
