Did you follow our recent bike challenge? If you did, you’d have seen that it was won with an incredible 1000 miles clocked up over 7 days! We couldn’t let that pass without featuring James Golding who won £1500 to donate to his chosen charity The Buffalo Foundation.
James has no ordinary story behind his cycling. He’s a 2 times cancer survivor, Guinness Seven Day Cycling World Record holder, and has already raised over £3m for various charities. As you can imagine, we were honoured to have him participate in our event and watch those daily totals add up.
His love of cycling was founded whilst recovering from his first battle with cancer over 10 years ago, at the time not realising what accomplishments would result from it. Fast forward to now and James is currently in training for his next challenge, Race Across America (RAAM), where he will have to ride 3,000 miles virtually non-stop across challenging terrain. If you need to put that in context, more people have climbed Everest than completed RAAM.
Amongst James’s numerous charity achievements, he is a trustee of The Buffalo Foundation. The Buffalo Foundation aims to make a lasting difference to those people less fortunate than ourselves through sport, education and the creation of future entrepreneurs. Especially children and young adults living in poverty. Young people denied the opportunities to become the best they can be, or even to just live a normal, healthy and happy life. We’re so pleased to have the opportunity to contribute towards the foundation and the great work they do.
